Dipped Fabrics

The use of adhesive resins in rubber goods

Adhesive resins are used in all textile reinforced rubber materials including tires.

Tire formulation is a highly specialized and technical field, with hundreds of different components that can be included in the rubber mix.

Why adhesives resins are key to tire manufacturers?

Resins are used in tire manufacturing as a key lever to improve performance and durability.

They provide performance to textile reinforcement whose main benefits include enhanced grip, wear resistance, improved high-temperature performance, deformation control and optimized driving comfort.

The specific types of resins and quantities used vary according to the tire's performance objectives and required specifications.

Why ResiCare for dipped fabrics?

Losange-pneu-3

After 10 years of Research & Development (R&D), the first ResiCare resin that replaces RFL (resorcinol formaldehyde latex) glues saw the light. Born from the will of Michelin to value the resin in tires, the ResiCare resin can be used with various fibers to create textile reinforcement for rubber materials and dipped fabrics.

Benefits: Thanks to its Plug & Play technology, the ResiCare resin is ready to use and replaces the historical RFL glue in the dipped fabrics and supports the transition of the industry by developing sustainable sourcing. Our product is compatible with all kinds of fibers like PET, Nylon, Aramid, Rayon, etc.

Advantages: The main difference with historical resin is that we are solving the issues normally arising with formaldehyde-based solutions while maintaining a high adhesive efficiency and with a higher biobased rate. More than 35 million tires have now been manufactured with our RF-Free resin for textile reinforcement!
